Het verhaal van Domaine Henri Prudhon & Fils – Bourgondische klasse uit Saint-Aubin
Te midden van de glooiende heuvels van de Côte de Beaune, in het rustige dorpje Saint-Aubin, ligt het familiebedrijf Domaine Henri Prudhon & Fils. Al sinds 1945 wordt hier met toewijding gewerkt aan het maken van elegante, terroirgedreven Bourgogne wijnen – zowel wit als rood – met een stijl die liefhebbers wereldwijd aanspreekt.
Het begon allemaal toen Henri Prudhon na de oorlog de familiewijngaarden samenbracht en zijn eerste wijnen bottelde. In de jaren ’80 namen zijn zonen het roer over, met als doel het domein verder te ontwikkelen. Vandaag de dag staat de derde generatie – Vincent en Philippe Prudhon – aan het hoofd. Samen beheren ze met zorg en precisie zo’n 14,5 hectare wijngaard verspreid over Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet en enkele percelen in Santenay.
Wat dit wijnhuis zo bijzonder maakt, is hun ingetogen stijl. Hier geen overdadig hout of overdreven extractie, maar pure wijnen die het karakter van de druif én het terroir centraal stellen. De Chardonnay-wijnen – zoals de verfijnde Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Les Perrières” of de frisse “Le Ban” – zijn mineraal, citrusachtig en perfect in balans. De Pinot Noir-wijnen, zoals hun Bourgogne Rouge of Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Les Rouges Gorges”, zijn elegant, met sappig rood fruit en een subtiele aardse ondertoon.
Het domein produceert jaarlijks ongeveer 90.000 flessen wijn, waarvan maar liefst 85% wordt geëxporteerd naar liefhebbers en topzaken over de hele wereld. Ondanks deze schaal blijft de focus op kwaliteit onveranderd: alle druiven worden met de hand geoogst, met respect voor de natuur en het ritme van de seizoenen. De vinificatie is traditioneel maar verfijnd, met gebruik van gedeeltelijk nieuw eikenhout (maximaal 30%) om de wijn structuur te geven zonder het karakter te overheersen.
Domaine Henri Prudhon & Fils is uitgegroeid tot een van de referenties binnen Saint-Aubin en wordt internationaal geroemd om zijn uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitverhouding in zowel wit als rood. Hun wijnen zijn geliefd in zowel restaurants als privékelders, en bieden alles wat je mag verwachten van klassieke Bourgogne: finesse, precisie en tijdloze elegantie.
